Khammam: A married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Gol Thanda in Tirumalayapalem mandal of the district on Friday.
The deceased, Guguloth Meenakshi (30), had married Shivaji of the same village after falling in love with him 12 years ago. The couple had two sons. According to family members, a dispute had been brewing between the couple for some time over Shivaji’s alleged illicit relationship with another woman.
An altercation was said to have taken place between the couple on Thursday. Citing injuries found on her body, villagers and family members alleged that the woman’s husband might have murdered her by strangling her with a saree in an attempt to portray her death as a suicide.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s family members, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
