Iran, Iraq call for strengthening ties in e-commerce

Zarepour met and held talks with Al-Ghurairy in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad on Tuesday.

Zarepour expressed Iran’s readiness for close and joint cooperation in the field of e-commerce based on the laws and considerations of the two countries.

Referring to the widespread activity of platforms in the field of e-commerce and e-shops in Iran, he said that Iran has made progress in the field of online stores, online payments, and financial startups and is ready to share its experiences with the Iraqi side.

He announced the transfer of knowledge of the construction, launch, and satellite imagery in the space field and cooperation for the establishment of a joint free zone of digital economy between the two countries as other areas of cooperation.

Al-Ghurairy, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with Iran’s capabilities and advances in the fields of e-commerce and new financial technologies and expressed his country’s interest in using the capacities and advances of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop e-commerce in Iraq.

Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology arrived in Baghdad on Sunday night for an official visit to Iraq and consultation with the country’s authorities.

Upon arrival at Baghdad International Airport, Zarepour was officially received by Iraqi Deputy Minister of Communications Baraq Abdul Karim and Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh.
