NALGONDA: A major fire erupted at Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Station (YATP) on Sunday, leaving a few key components extensively damaged. Officials claimed there was no loss of life or injuries in the incident.

The fire erupted near the turbine-driven boiler feed pump at the Unit 3 location in the plant. Immediately, the workers and officials working at the plant ran for their lives.

According to preliminary investigation, it has been ascertained that the fire occurred due to lubrication oil leakage at the pump. Due to the oil leakage, thick smoke enveloped the plant area.

A few key components, including control cables and valves, were damaged in the fire. With the plant staff responding immediately and extinguishing the fire, main equipment, including turbines and boilers, was not affected by the fire, as per reports.
