Hyderabad: A 16-year-old student of a private junior college died by suicide in her hostel room in Madhapur on Tuesday night.
The teen girl, identified as Pooja, a native of Nalgonda district, had come to Hyderabad two days ago to appear for Intermediate betterment examinations and was staying in the college hostel at Parvath Nagar.
According to police, she was found hanging in her hostel room. Family members said Pooja had scored 389 marks out of 470 in her first year intermediate examinations. She had been preparing for the betterment exams.
Preliminary inquiries suggested she may have been under stress over her studies.
The Madhapur police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to her death.
