Jowar procurement delay triggers rush and traffic jam at Adilabad market yard

Adilabad: A large number of farmers shifted jowar produce to an agriculture market yard resulting in a traffic jam here on Wednesday.

Procurement of jowar was suspended due to lack of gunny bags, vehicles for transporting the grains and storage facilities for four days in a row. Officials declared that jowar would be procured at the yard from Thursday. Farmers from several parts of the district swarmed the market yard to sell jowar to the government a day in advance.

The farmers said that they were forced to wait in scorching heat wave conditions after their vehicles were not allowed to enter the market yard. They regretted that the government was showing negligence in procuring jowar. They demanded it to procure the produce without delaying and by avoiding inconvenience to the growers.
