Bandi Sai Bageerath evades arrest; Seeks anticipatory bail in POCSO case

Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, accused in a POCSO case, has evaded arrest and sought anticipatory bail from the Telangana High Court. Meanwhile, the police officials planto re-record the victim’s statement, while Bageerath remains absconding.

Bandi Sai Bageerath evades arrest; Seeks anticipatory bail in POCSO case

Hyderabad: The saga of Bandi Sai Bageerath continued on Tuesday with the POCSO accused evading police arrest and approaching the Telangana High Court for anticipatory bail.

Sai Bageerath, son of the Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay was cited as the prime accused in a POCSO case in Petbasheerabad police station on May 8. The case was registered after the mother of a minor victim girl approached the police and made a complaint alleging that on numerous instances, Bageerath had inappropriately behaved with her daughter.


The victim’s mother also made a mention of a few instances including a New Year party at a farmhouse in Moinabad where Bageerath had allegedly molested the victim and touched her private parts. The police had already recorded the victim’s statement.

The Kukatpally Zone DCP Ritiraj, who is specially drafted to head the investigation in the case, is said to have finalised the plan of action. The police are likely to meet the victim again to record her statement.

Meanwhile, Bageerath continued to remain absconding and the police so far could not trace him or call him to join the investigation. DCP Ritiraj, on Monday said that after the investigation is completed the police will go ahead and arrest Bageerath.
