In a statement posted on X, Ambassador Rahmani Fazli confirmed that Iran is ready to collaborate on the initiative, noting that this commitment was further emphasized during a recent meeting between the foreign ministers of the two nations.
He previously informed reporters that the Chinese president’s framework underscores the “necessity of cooperation, convergence, and collective action to strengthen security and development across the Persian Gulf and the Middle East.”
President Xi Jinping initially presented the proposal during the official visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to Beijing.
According to China’s official news agency, the four guiding principles of the proposal are:
Commitment to Peaceful Coexistence: Promoting the construction of a “common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable” security architecture for the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
Commitment to National Sovereignty: Ensuring full respect for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of regional states, while effectively guaranteeing the safety of personnel, facilities, and institutions.
Commitment to International Rule of Law: Maintaining the authority of international law to prevent the global order from regressing into the “law of the jungle.”
Coordination Between Development and Security: Encouraging all parties to collaborate in creating an environment conducive to the economic progress and advancement of Middle Eastern and Persian Gulf nations.
