POCSO case against Union minister’s son: KTR questions delay in Bandi Sanjay’s ouster

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a tirade against the BJP and Congress governments for their failures in handling the POCSO case registered against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son.

He expressed anguish over the injustice being done to the victim. He minced no words in questioning the BJP-led Central government and Congress-led State government for their unholy nexus and their commitment towards women’s security.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is your ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign limited to being just a slogan?” Rama Rao questioned. He sought to know when Union Minister Bandi Sanjay would be removed from office.

The BRS working president questioned the delay in taking legal action against the Union Minister’s son. He asked whether Bandi Sanjay and his son were being given any special exemption under the law.

“Bandi Sanjay should take moral responsibility and resign immediately, or alternatively, be dismissed from the Union Cabinet without delay,” Rama Rao demanded.

Jungle Raj’ in Telangana – Criticism of Rahul Gandhi

Coming down heavily on the Congress government in Telangana, he questioned Rahul Gandhi over the State government’s handling of crimes against women.

“When a woman faces sexual assault in Telangana, the Congress government is allegedly harassing the victim instead of ensuring justice. Under Congress rule, Telangana has turned into a Jungle Raj,” Rama Rao slammed. He questioned why the police department failed to act even after a minor girl reportedly submitted a complaint with evidence. “Why the victim had to struggle for nearly three months just to get an FIR registered,” he asked.

“Rahul Gandhi stood by the victim in the Unnao case. Will he now come to Hyderabad and stand by this victim as well? Or does your sense of justice not apply to victims in Telangana?” Rama Rao asked.

Anger over the Conduct of Telangana Police

The BRS working president strongly condemned the filing of counter-cases against the victim herself. “Under what rule or legal provision was a minor girl booked in honey-trap and extortion cases?” he questioned the police.

He further said it was inhuman to treat the victim and her family like criminals and subject them to harassment.

The BRS working president expressed concern that the minor girl had allegedly attempted suicide twice while fighting for justice, and questioned how the system could now engage in “victim shaming” instead of protecting her.

Unholy Nexus’ Between BJP and Congress

Rama Rao alleged that the Telangana Congress had become a “franchise” of the BJP. Whether both parties had entered into an “unholy and disgusting understanding” when it came to protecting the dignity and justice of a minor girl, he asked.

He further questioned why the Union Minister’s son was allegedly not being interrogated in the same manner as other accused in POCSO cases. This incident shows the kind of horrifying and unbearable environment people were living in today, he stressed.

“In the past, we fought against oppressive governments to protect the dignity of women. If necessary, we are ready to fight a million times more to ensure the safety and dignity of every girl child,” Rama Rao asserted.
