Hyderabad: Activists of Save KBR Park and representatives of various NGOs plan to form a human chain on Sunday near Indo-American Cancer Hospital against indiscriminate tree felling for flyovers and underpasses around KBR Park under the H-CITI project.

The activists continued protests against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for the past several days after trees were chopped off on Indo-American Cancer Hospital-Maharaja Agrasen Island.

“As part of the continuation of the protest, we have decided to organise a ‘human chain’ on Sunday at 5 pm near Indo-American Cancer Hospital. A poster was also released on Saturday and circulated to different NGOs, and made a plea to join in the protest,” said A Vijay Reddy, one of the activists.

“Our demand is that the GHMC officials conduct an environmental impact assessment and conduct a public hearing ahead of earth excavation works for the flyovers and underpasses. Losing the green cover in the heart of the city is unacceptable,” he said.
