RRR: Northern part bids submission date extended yet again

Hyderabad: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) department’s fears came true as the last date for submission of bids for the northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) was extended for the fourth time.

The bids were initially scheduled to be submitted by April 29. However, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has now extended the deadline to May 21, leaving R&B officials concerned.

Generally, the Alignment Approval Committee of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) takes a decision depending on the bids received. The committee had reportedly raised a few queries, resulting in the latest extension, a senior R&B department official said.

This is the fourth extension so far, with the deadline being pushed back on different occasions for varying reasons. Ahead of April 29, R&B officials were already apprehensive that the submission date might be extended further. As feared, the deadline has now been revised to May 21.

The NHAI had invited bids on November 11, 2025, for execution of six-lane civil works under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) across five packages, with the total project cost estimated at Rs 8,535 crore.

The state government, on its part, has to bear 50 per cent of the land acquisition cost. Accordingly, Rs 1,525 crore has been allocated in the 2026-27 Budget Estimates towards land acquisition for the RRR.
