KTR’s timely medical help gives Hyderabad girl a new life

Hyderabad: A life-saving intervention by KT Rama Rao in 2020 has come full circle, with a young girl he helped recover from a critical illness now completing her schooling.

Saranya, daughter of K Narayana and Rajeswari from Balamrai, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019. With treatment costs estimated at Rs 20 lakh and no access to the Aarogyasri scheme, the family struggled to secure admission to Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital.

Following a relative’s appeal on social media in 2020, Rama Rao responded within minutes and directed officials to act. His office staff facilitated her admission and treatment. The surgery, including stent placement, radiation therapy and medical tests, was carried out free of cost under his supervision. He also arranged other medical expenses incurred by the family.

Saranya has since recovered and recently cleared her SSC exams. The family met Rama Rao at his Nandi Nagar residence and thanked him for his timely intervention. He wished her success and encouraged her to aim higher.
