Khammam autowala Lateef wins Ex-MP Nama’s praise for offering free rides to pregnant women

Khammam autowala Lateef wins Ex-MP Nama’s praise for offering free rides to pregnant women

Khammam: A Good Samaritan autowala, Shaik Lateef of Siripuram Kakanagiri (KG) of Wyra mandal in the district received accolades from former MP Nama Nageswara Rao for his selfless services to the public.

During a chance encounter at Siripuram on Saturday, the ex-MP interacted with Lateef who has been providing free transportation in his auto-rickshaw to pregnant women, taking them to hospitals for medical tests and during childbirth for the past six years.


Nageswara Rao remarked that the services of Lateef in remote villages, specifically in areas lacking bus connectivity, were truly praiseworthy and an inspiration to many. He appreciated Lateef for continuing his services even amidst rising petrol and diesel prices.

Lateef stated that the ex-MP was his inspiration in carrying out his services and recalled his initiatives such as distribution of khaki shirts to auto-rickshaw drivers across the district. The ambulance, which Nageswara Rao provided to Wyra government hospital with MPLADS funds when he was the MP, has proven immensely useful during emergencies.

Nageswara Rao hoped that the number of service-minded individuals like Lateef would increase and wished that Lateef would continue to expand his services in the future, thereby serving as an inspiration to many others. Khaki shirts were distributed to 50 auto drivers on the occasion.
