Hyderabad: Plumber arrested for murder, body found hidden in house

Hyderabad: The Neredmet police on Saturday arrested a plumber for allegedly killing a man four months ago and burying the body in the house.

The arrested person, K Venkat Ramulu (47), a plumber and a resident of Moula Ali and native of Mahabubnagar district, on December 15, went to the house of one G Mallesh, located at Laxminagar, Moula Ali, and consumed liquor along with him.

“After consuming liquor, Ramulu and Mallesh had an altercation over some issue during which Mallesh allegedly abused and used derogatory words against Ramulu. In a fit of rage, Ramulu attacked Mallesh on his head with a wooden stick, leading to his death,” said DCP Malkajgiri, Ch Sridhar.

After killing Mallesh, the suspect kept the body beneath the kitchen platform in the house and, to conceal it, constructed a brick structure.

“As Mallesh was not paying rent, the house owner in April tried to contact Mallesh. Unable to get in touch with him, the property owner broke open the lock of the door and went inside to inspect the premises. He noticed a brick structure constructed in the kitchen and a foul smell emanating from the spot. On removing the structure, human skeletal remains were found,” said the official.

On information, the police reached the spot and shifted the skeletal remains to mortuary. The police suspected the role of Ramulu and took him into custody. On interrogation, Ramulu admitted to having killed Mallesh and concealed the body in the house.
