Hyderabad: Traffic went haywire between Khairatabad junction and NIMS Hospital due to ongoing underground drainage works, with deep earth excavation and the laying of drainage pipes continuing at a brisk pace for the past two days near NIMS Hospital.
The ongoing works blocked 60 per cent of the road between the Irrum Manzil metro station and up to NIMS Hospital, which led to a worse situation.
A significant traffic jam occurred on Thursday during peak hours, and it continued up to 2 pm. Commuters expressed anguish over the civic body authorities regarding works taken during scorching summer, which is unacceptable.
Commuters also reported delays and congestion in the area as vehicles moved slowly through affected stretches.
A senior GHMC official said that the works will be completed in another two days. We have taken up earth excavation works during nighttime and laying of pipelines too. Only finishing work is taken up during the day.
