Hyderabad: The rollout of the Vahan Portal in Telangana has faced some early technical hiccups, but transport authorities say the system is now steadily stabilising and gaining traction across the State.

Launched on March 23 this year as part of the Centre’s digital transport initiative developed by the National Informatics Centre, the portal has already facilitated 59,567 temporary vehicle registrations (TRs).

In addition, 9,282 vehicles have completed permanent registration, reflecting gradual progress despite initial disruptions.

According to Transport Department officials, the platform is being implemented in phases. Ongoing software refinements and real-time monitoring by a dedicated NIC team from Delhi are helping resolve issues swiftly, an official said, adding that the system is expected to fully stabilise within the next one month.

Officials noted that nearly 40,000 temporary registrations are currently pending, but efforts are underway to clear the backlog on priority as improvements continue.

The portal’s fancy number auction module has also seen a strong response, with 1,262 special registration numbers already allotted.

Meanwhile, authorities are planning to integrate additional modules in phases, bringing all key vehicle-related services under one digital platform.

To ensure smooth adoption, automobile dealers across Telangana have undergone training to operate the system. The phased rollout is part of a broader push to digitise transport services, enhance transparency and improve efficiency for vehicle owners.

Officials maintain that once fully stabilised, the Vahan Portal will provide seamless and uninterrupted services across the State.
