Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has asserted that the next assembly elections would not be regular elections but would pave the way for re-electing BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao as the Chief Minister and rebuilding Telangana.
The BRS strength had increased considerably in the Panchayat elections, compared to the 2023 elections, he said here on Sunday.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had admitted that the Congress government had accumulated debts to the tune of Rs. 3.70 lakh crore in the last two-and-a-half years. But, save for carrying money bags to New Delhi, what has he done for Telangana, he asked.
“Before the 2023 elections, Revanth Reddy was ‘Dana Veera Sura Karna’ but after elections he became ‘Kumbhakarna’,” Rama Rao slammed.
The BRS working president came down heavily on the Chief Minister for trying to cover up his failures.
“Revanth Reddy asks whether a child will be born within three months after a marriage. But, even after 30 months, if children are not born, then what should be said?” Rama Rao sought to know.
Skyroot was supported and developed by the BRS government. Interestingly, the Congress government, after formally inaugurating it, claimed credit for the good work done by the BRS government, he said.
Even after two-and-a-half years, the Congress government has nothing much to claim in terms of development in the State. The six guarantees, 420 promises and 13 declarations have been kept in cold storage, the BRS working president charged.
The BRS working president welcomed Pillutla Raghu from Huzurnagar constituency into the party at Telangana Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, he admitted that the BRS had lost in Nalgonda due to some minor mistakes.
But, despite a senior and experienced leader like N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the district yearns for development. What has the Congress done for the district prior to the 2014 elections, he asked.
During Congress rule earlier, the River Musi was turned into a polluted river, people were troubled with fluorosis and Ram Reddy, a farmer, had dug up 56 borewells. This was the state of affairs during the Congress rule. In contrast, under the BRS government, Yadadri temple was reconstructed with Rs.1,800 crore, ultra mega power project was established with Rs. 35,000 crore, medical colleges were set up and the fluorosis issue was addressed with Mission Bhagiratha, he stressed.
