H-FAST warns oil traders against sale of loose edible oils in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) conducted an awareness meeting with oil manufacturers, suppliers and associated stakeholders on Sunday.

During the meeting, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force and incharge of H-FAST, emphasised the importance of strict adherence to food safety norms and legal standards in the manufacture and sale of edible oils.

He instructed traders not to sell loose or unbranded oil under any circumstances, as it poses serious health risks to the public and violates food safety regulations.

The official said that it is a mandatory requirement to sell properly packaged and sealed edible oil products. He asked businessmen to ensure that no adulteration or mixing of inferior, recycled or harmful substances in edible oils takes place.

The oil manufacturers and suppliers were warned that any deviation from the prescribed norms, including adulteration or the sale of loose oil, will invite stringent legal action.
