Traffic halted for CM convoy triggers tension at Puppalgudda toll gate

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed for a while at the Puppalgudda Outer Ring Road toll gate on Sunday after the traffic police stopped vehicles for a long time to facilitate the movement of the convoy of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

The incident took place in the morning when the Chief Minister was to pass through the road to attend a programme. The traffic police stopped movement on the busy route to facilitate a ‘green channel’ for the Chief Minister’s convoy.

Motorists whose vehicles were stopped for a long time lost patience and started questioning the policemen posted at the junction for stopping the vehicles. In videos filmed by some individuals and shared on social media, vehicle owners are seen arguing with the police that it is improper to stop traffic for an hour only because a Chief Minister was supposed to pass through the route.

Some other videos show vehicle owners continuously honking to register their protest over the VIP movement. People expressed anger over the VIP culture at the cost of citizens’ liberty and work.

In fact, a couple of motorists got down from their vehicles and argued with the policemen manning the junction for stopping traffic for a long time only to ensure smooth movement for the Chief Minister.
