Prisoner caught minutes after escape near Chanchalguda crossroads

Hyderabad: The joy of escaping from police custody was short-lived for a prisoner who was caught within minutes of his escape at Chanchalguda crossroads on Monday.

Sadula Naresh, along with two others, was arrested by the police of Malkajgiri Commissionerate in connection with vehicle theft cases on April 12. The trio were sent to judicial remand.

On Monday, the Bowenpally police took the trio into custody from Central Prison, Chanchalguda, on a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant and produced them before the Nampally court in connection with a case. The court remanded them to judicial custody.

“While the police team was bringing the three persons in a vehicle back to the jail, two of them escaped when the vehicle slowed down at Chanchalguda crossroads. One among them was caught by the Bowenpally police at the spot, while the other person, Naresh, was apprehended a little distance away by Dabeerpura police,” said Dabeerpura Inspector P Upashankar.

According to the police, a patrol team of Dabeerpura police, comprising head constable Jaweed, woman constable Shravanti and others, noticed Naresh near Sohail Hotel and caught him on suspicion. A fresh case has been registered against Naresh for escaping from judicial custody.

However, the Bowenpally police came under the scanner for taking the prisoners in a private vehicle and not a police vehicle.
