Khammam: A farm labourer died and a few others were injured when a tractor trolley in which they were travelling overturned at Madupalli-Talluru on the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana border in Madhira in the district on Friday.
According to police, nearly 20 agricultural labourers from Madupalli in Madhira municipality went to Shivapuram of Penuganchiprolu mandal in Andhra Pradesh to pick chilli in local fields. When they were returning home, the tractor lost control and fell into a roadside field.
A woman, Velpula Annapurna (52), died on the spot while several others suffered serious injuries. The condition of two women, Radha and Sultana, was said to be critical and they were shifted to the Government General Hospital in Khammam.
The other injured persons were being treated at Madhira Government Hospital. The local CI D Ramesh and SI Kishore Kumar rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations.
