Hyderabad: Maison D’Art Banjara will present The Long Parade, a solo exhibition by Belgian-born, Hyderabad-based artist Annelies Van Baelen, from April 24 to May 23.

Working across acrylic and oil paint, resin, and aluminium, Van Baelen brings together a vibrant body of work that explores the relationship between colour, life forms, and the human psyche.

The exhibition unfolds as a visual journey, beginning with fish rendered in vivid hues and moving through animals marked by stripes and patterns, before arriving at human faces and ritual masks. Together, these works form a continuum, where colour acts as both instinct and expression.

Van Baelen, who was born in Belgium and is now based in Hyderabad, studied silversmithing and is a self-taught painter. She also holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, which informs the emotional depth of her work.

Her practice moves fluidly between the natural world and inner emotional states. Through textured surfaces and luminous colour, she creates works that are both immediate and layered, evoking feelings of joy, curiosity, and tenderness.

The artist has exhibited internationally in cities including Shanghai, London, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, and recently completed a residency at Bangalore Creative Circus.

The exhibition will open on April 24 at 7 pm at Maison D’Art Banjara, Hyderabad.
