SR University, Warangal, has earned accreditation from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its School of Agriculture and B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme, becoming the first private university in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to achieve this distinction.

Hanamkonda: SR University, Warangal, has secured accreditation from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its School of Agriculture and B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme offered by it.
With the recognition, SRU has become the first private university in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to achieve ICAR accreditation at the school/college and programme levels, the university Chancellor A Varada Reddy informed.
The accreditation is valid for five years with effect from March 16, 2026 as decided by the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board (NAEAB) during its 42nd meeting. The ICAR, through the NAEAB, oversees agricultural education and research in India.
Varada Reddy congratulated the faculty, staff, and students for the achievement. The accreditation reflects the university’s sustained commitment to quality education, skill-oriented teaching, faculty development and impactful research in the field of agriculture.
He emphasised that the recognition reinforces SR University’s vision of contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Indian agriculture and empowering the farming community through education and innovation.
The Chancellor said that ICAR accreditation enhances the credibility of the School of Agriculture and its academic programmes, as degrees awarded by ICAR-accredited institutions are widely recognised in India and abroad.
The SRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Garg noted that the accreditation is a testimony to the university’s robust academic framework and industry-aligned curriculum. The syllabus is designed in accordance with ICAR Fifth and Sixth Deans’ Committee recommendations and is developed in consultation with ICAR experts and industry leaders.
The School of Agriculture dean Prof. Bhupal Raj said the school is equipped with 13 well-established laboratories, extensive farmland for practical learning, polyhouse and shade net facilities, hydroponics systems, and an agrometeorological observatory.
SR University has established over 25 MoUs with leading agricultural institutions, industries, and international universities, facilitating internships, joint research, and knowledge exchange with reputed organisations, he said.
Registrar Prof. PV Ramana Rao, Dean (Operations & Growth) Prof. R. Archana Reddy and Director (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) Prof. P.V. Raja Shekar were present.
