Dr K Sanjay hits out at officials over maize procurement delay

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA from Korutla, Dr K Sanjay, fumed at MARKFED officials for delaying the start of maize procurement in his constituency, leaving farmers waiting for weeks. Upset over what he called official apathy, the MLA himself inaugurated a procurement centre, bringing relief to farmers.

The development comes after officials had invited him to participate in the inauguration of the centre at Mallapur mandal at 10 am on Thursday. However, the event was postponed at the last minute, reportedly due to the busy schedule of SC and ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman and other Congress leaders.

Expressing anger over the delay, Dr Sanjay questioned the officials’ approach. In a video circulating on social media, he is seen asking, “Farmers have been waiting for one month for the procurement to commence. Yet, you people continue to delay things. Why this arrogance?”

Calling the situation unacceptable, he told the officials that he would go ahead and launch the procurement process regardless of whether they attended. He also accused officials of repeatedly citing reasons to delay procurement, despite ongoing protests by farmers over the issue.
