Congress faced criticism from its own MLAs, MLCs and allies in the Assembly and Council, who flagged delays in fulfilling promises and alleged discrimination in allocation of funds and development projects

Hyderabad: The Congress government found itself on the defensive after its own MLAs and MLCs highlighted unfulfilled promises, even as the government acknowledged the achievements of the previous BRS regime.
The criticism came from within the ruling party and its allies during proceedings in both the Assembly and the Legislative Council.
On Sunday, Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy alleged discrimination in the allocation of funds to constituencies. He said priority was being given to constituencies represented by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Ministers, while others were being ignored.
In the Legislative Council, Congress MLC Vijayashanthi questioned the delay in implementing assurances made to Telangana movement activists. She noted that more than two years had passed, but several promises remained unfulfilled.
Members of allied parties, including the CPI and AIMIM also voiced similar concerns.
CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said Bhadradri Kothagudem constituency was not receiving adequate funds or projects. He claimed that while Ministers were approving works, the Finance Department was not releasing funds.
AIMIM legislators too raised the issue of fund allocation. Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala said Constituency Development Funds had not been released for the past two years.
He also alleged discrimination in the distribution of Special Development Funds. Balala said funds were being released to Congress MLAs and those who had switched sides, while others were left out.
“Why is this discrimination? We too are with you,” the AIMIM MLA asked.
