Kothagudem: The TBGKS chief general secretary Kapu Krishna demanded the SCCL management to convene a Medical Board meeting to invalidate workers suffering from ailments to allow their children get dependent jobs.
The workers staged protests at all mines in the district on Saturday by wearing black badges and submitting memorandums to the officials.
Speaking on the occasion the TBGKS leader noted that the Medical Board must be reconvened for the workers whose applications for medical invalidation were rejected in July and November despite meeting the eligibility criteria.
The issue regarding workers using aliases, which was currently under vigilance scrutiny must be resolved immediately. The AITUC and INTUC trade unions must immediately fulfill the promises made to the workers during the election period, Krishna demanded.
Justice must be served to the more than 2,000 workers who have been awaiting a Medical Board assessment for the past year. The Singareni management and the Congress government must desist from implementing anti-labour policies, he said.
Coal extraction at the VK coal mine should be carried out using Singareni’s own machinery and workforce. Vacancies existing in the Kothagudem area must be filled with the workforce from the PVK underground mine, Krishna added.
Meanwhile the CPI affiliated AITUC and Congress affiliated INTUC also staged similar protests with the same demands in Kothagudem during the day.
