Syria vehemently denounces the latest Israeli strikes against the war-battered country, saying the occupying regime has no goal other than creation of what it terms “Greater Israel” and aggressively opposes any effort aimed at ending the Israeli occupation of Arab territories.
In line with attempts to expand the scope of its aggression and perpetrate more atrocities, Israeli occupation forces launched fresh attacks on Syria, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“One of the air raids targeted military infrastructure belonging to the Syrian Arab Army in the southern province of Dara’a early on Wednesday morning, while another knocked Aleppo International Airport out of commission in the afternoon,” the ministry added.
The ministry said that fresh Israeli strikes exposed Israel’s insatiable desire for the massacre of Palestinians and Syrians, stating that Israeli authorities are not yet satisfied with the loss of more than 6,500 Palestinian lives as well as destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure in the besieged Gaza Strip.
“Today’s acts of aggression show that … the fascist Israeli regime is seeking to expand the scope of the ongoing war on innocent civilians [in Gaza]. The Israeli enemy has no goal other than establishment of the [so-called] Greater Israel and torpedoes any international effort aimed at cessation of the Israeli occupation of Arab lands,” the statement concluded.
Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army with its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.
The Tel Aviv regime rarely comments on its attacks on Syrian territories, which many see as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s success in confronting and decimating terrorism.
Israel has been one of the main supporters of terrorist groups that oppose the democratically-elected government of President Bashar al-Assad since the foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria.
