Jagtial: In the wake of senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy’s reported decision to quit the party, Ministers D Sridhar Babu and Adluri Laxman Kumar held discussions with him. Based on TPCC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan’s instructions, the Ministers, along with Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam and others, visited the house of Jeevan Reddy here on Saturday and held discussions for more than one hour.
During their interaction, they reportedly tried to convince Jeevan Reddy to withdraw his decision to quit the party. Being associated with the Congress for the past four decades, he should not leave the party. Moreover, his services were required for the party in the future, they said. The Ministers reportedly discussed local political problems and other issues and assured him of giving top priority in the party after discussing the matter with the party high command.
Later, speaking to reporters, Sridhar Babu said that Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud had already held discussions with Jeevan Reddy. They also came here to meet him. During the meeting, Jeevan Reddy brought to their notice various issues, including the feelings, difficulties and problems being faced by local Congress party workers and leaders.
Stating that Jeevan Reddy has always supported the Congress party, Sridhar Babu said that the party would also support him. On the other hand, Jeevan Reddy reportedly said that there was no question of changing his decision, stating that “God dictates, human follows.” Reacting to the episode, Korutla MLA Dr K Sanjay Kumar said that he would carry Jeevan Reddy on his shoulders if the latter joined the BRS.
