Iran, Niger FMs discuss ways to expand bilateral relations

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed issues of mutual interest in the field of bilateral and international relations as well as the latest internal developments in Niger with his counterpart Bakary Yaou Sangaré on Tuesday.

The Iranian minister referred to the principled approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expanding relations with African countries, and attached great importance to the development of bilateral cooperation in various political, economic, scientific and technological fields and the exchange of high level delegations between the two countries, with the aim of promoting the interests of the parties.

Amir-Abdollahian considered the joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries to be a suitable framework in line with the calls of the high-ranking officials of the two countries for the development of cooperation, emphasizing the necessity of the commission’s activation. He further expressed hope that with the restructuring of this commission, there would be intensified efforts to expand ties.

Bakary Yaou Sangaré, Niger’s new top diplomat, for his part, pointed to the high capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various economic, scientific and technological fields, and emphasized his country’s desire to develop relations with Iran in various sectors.

He considered these capabilities to be in line with meeting of the needs of his country in various energy and industrial sectors and expressed hope for the development and deepening of relations between the two countries in the near future.
