In a post on X early Wednesday, the embassy condemned the United States and the Israeli regime for carrying out an unlawful attack on Iran earlier this year.
“On February 28, 2026, the United States and the Israeli regime committed an unprovoked and illegal act of aggression against Iran’s ‘territorial integrity,’” the post said, emphasizing that civilian infrastructure across the country was deliberately targeted.
“Civilian infrastructure across the country was deliberately targeted and destroyed, resulting in a high number of civilian casualties. On the first day alone, an elementary school was struck, killing over 170 students and teachers,” according to the post.
It added: “Iran was attacked by sea and air, rendering the Iranian coastline—particularly the Strait of Hormuz—extremely hazardous for maritime navigation.”
The message also mentioned, “In exercising its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran conducted strikes against Israeli military centers and US military bases and interests in the Persian Gulf region.”
Referring to reactions in the region and beyond to the aggression, it noted, “A grave misstep by regional states: Instead of condemning the original act of aggression, a unilateral, unrealistic, and deeply counterproductive resolution was adopted at the UN Security Council, censuring Iran’s defensive actions.”
The embassy said regional countries made a greater error by pushing for a biased resolution against Iran at the UN Human Rights Council.
“An even greater error: Certain states in the region are now pushing for a more biased and unrealistic resolution at the UN Human Rights Council, an entirely inappropriate forum for such matters. This is obviously yet another mockery of UN human rights mechanism which erodes further the credibility of the whole UN system.”
The Iranian embassy concluded its post, saying that resolving the ongoing crisis is possible only through exerting pressure on the US and Israel to end their aggression against Iran.
“The path to resolving the current crisis lies in pressing the US and Israeli regimes to end their aggression, commit to non-repetition, and pay reparations. Unilateral and unbalanced resolutions will only serve to escalate tensions further,” according to the statement.
