Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Gondwana Koya Samkshema Sangham, a tribal rights organisation, condemned the murder of Athram Sammakka, a 25-year-old tribal woman from Kondapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal, on Monday.
In a press statement, Soyam Chinnanna, the district president of the association, demanded stern action against Kelkari Jalapathi for allegedly murdering the pregnant woman under the guise of love. Tribal women were falling prey to youngsters from elite communities and were being subjected to sexual assaults, he alleged.
Terming the incident as heinous and an honour killing, he also demanded the immediate arrest of Jalapathi and his family members who allegedly had a role in the murder. He sought compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the kin of the victim. Seeking a fast-track court to try the case, he urged the government to set up an inter-caste marriages protection board.
