Velugumatla case: Police initiates process to attach properties of accused

Khammam: Police have initiated measures for the attachment of properties purchased by four persons accused of collecting money from the poor by promising house sites at Velugumatla Bhoodan lands.

Having identified cash transactions conducted through the bank accounts of certain accused persons, police officials submitted written recommendations to bank authorities requesting them to freeze those accounts, Additional DCP (law and order) Prasad Rao said in a statement here on Saturday.

The police have approached the court seeking police custody of the accused persons who have already been arrested, he said, noting that steps were being taken to gather further information from them.

The police investigation revealed that all the accused individuals involved in the case had formed a criminal syndicate. They defrauded the poor by selling a single house plot to three or four different buyers and misappropriating the proceeds.
