15 injured in honey bee attack in Sangareddy

A sudden swarm of honey bees attacked Venkatapur village in Sadasivapet mandal, Sangareddy, leaving at least 15 people injured, including schoolchildren. One young man sustained serious injuries while riding his bike.

A young man suffers multiple stings in a sudden honey bee swarm attack at Venkatapur, Sangareddy.

Sangareddy: At least 15 persons were injured as a swarm of honey bees attacked the villagers at Venkatapur village in Sadasivapet mandal on Friday morning.

The swarm of bees flew into the village and began stinging them. Some four school-going children were also attacked.


One young man sustained serious sting injuries, as hundreds of bees attacked him. He was going on a bike when the swarm of bees attacked him.

He stopped suddenly and tried to protect himself by pouring water on him. However, they continued to attack him as no one dared to come out of their houses fearing attacks.

The entire village ran helter-skelter as the incident created chaos during the morning hours and residents locked themselves inside their houses.

The injured were rushed to the government hospital in Sadasivapet. The hospital staff were removing the stings. The condition of two of them is said to be critical.
