Zionist regime cannot represent Judaism: Leader of Iranian Jews

The leader of Iranian Jews says the Zionist regime cannot represent Judaism, just as the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group cannot represent Islam.

Rabbi Younes Hamami-Lalehzar, who is also a physician, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV aired on Thursday.

“Just as the Daesh cannot represent Islam, the Zionist regime cannot represent Judaism. Unfortunately, the Zionist regime misuses a series of ideals of Judaism and takes action that has had many opponents among the Jews themselves since the advent of Zionism.”

“The first opponents of Zionism were the Jews themselves. No wise man approves of killing disabled people who are in hospital.”

The remarks came two days after the world was shocked when Israel launched a missile attack on the Anglican-run Ahli Hospital, also known as the Baptist Hospital, in central Gaza, where, along with patients, hundreds of people had also taken refuge from Israeli airstrikes.

The brutal air raid killed at least 500 people and wounded hundreds of others.

The second interviewee was Amir Faraz Naeimoot, a social activist of Iran’s Jewish community, who condemned the crimes of Israel.

“When we talk about murder and violation of human rights, the mind of every person who is concerned about humanity becomes preoccupied. I want to condemn these crimes first as a human and then as a Jew. Our souls are full of pain because of what happens. We are concerned about the innocent people who have been captured by extremists,” he said.

On Wednesday, US Capitol police arrested around 300 Jewish protesters after they occupied a part of a House office demanding a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip, where shortages of food, water and medicine threaten the lives of Gazans while hospitals are overwhelmed amid incessant Israeli bombings.

Israel launched the war on the coastal enclave on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity. So far, 3,500 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli air raids, including more than 1,000 women and 1,000 children.
