Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appealed to doctors working in private hospitals and those abroad to serve in government hospitals for at least a month every year as part of their social responsibility.
Doctors would not have to pay anything. In fact, the initiative would help them gain rich experience while also boosting people’s confidence in the public healthcare system, he said after formally launching the 25th branch of Medicover Hospitals here on Thursday.
“I have already spoken to doctors abroad. Whenever they visit the city, they can perform a complicated surgery or conduct sessions for students,” Revanth Reddy stated.
The Chief Minister also said he differed with the view that the advent of artificial intelligence would affect different sectors. He said the belief that artificial intelligence may impact white-collar jobs but not blue-collar jobs was only a half-truth.
“It is not a challenge to get doctors, engineers and other white-collar professionals but it is definitely a challenge to get experienced plumbers, electricians and others,” Revanth Reddy observed.
Stressing that the State government was focusing on the health and education sectors, he said if a poor person was provided quality education and went on to become a doctor or engineer, the government would not have to spend much on welfare.
“If a poor man becomes a doctor or engineer, the government will not have to provide a ration card, Indiramma houses or pension. They will not look towards the government’s help,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said the government was planning to introduce an app in government schools to check the nutritional values in the food served to children.
