KTR urges students to be bold, ambitious and participate in democracy

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao called upon students to be bold, ambitious and actively participate in democratic processes. Observing that the future of the country depends on informed and responsible youth, he said discussions and questioning were the true strength of democracy.

Addressing the Inter-Collegiate Youth Parliament programme at St. Ann’s College for Women at Mehdipatnam on Wednesday, Rama Rao stated that democracy thrives when different opinions are expressed in a constructive manner. “Politics ultimately decides the direction of people’s lives, and young voters must take part in it,” he said, urging students to exercise their right to vote.

He said it was encouraging to see students debating issues such as unemployment, women’s safety, road safety and global conflicts. He appreciated the students who enacted the roles of ruling and opposition members in the mock parliament.

Stressing the need for greater representation of women in leadership roles, the BRS working president said more young women should enter politics, governance, law and public life.

He said true empowerment comes through education, confidence and the ability to speak freely. “Platforms like Youth Parliament help students develop leadership skills and clarity of thought,” he said.

He advised women students to become economically self-reliant before making major life decisions, as it gives them confidence and freedom of choice. He urged them to continuously upgrade their skills to keep pace with changing technology and opportunities.
