Iran, Japan top diplomats discuss war developments on phone

During the phone call, the two top diplomats exchanged their views on the recent developments in the region following the US-Israeli aggression against Iran as well as dire consequences of the war in the region and the world.

Iran’s top diplomat pointed to the criminal nature of the US and Israel in attacking Iran, urging the international community to fulfill its responsibility and explicitly condemn the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran.

“This is not a war just against Iran, but a war against the entire region and the critical situation in the region, including in the Strait of Hormuz, stems from the military aggression by the United States and Zionist regime,” Araghchi underlined.

The foreign minister added that maintaining good relations with neighbors is a priority for Iran, “but we cannot allow the US to attack us from its bases in the region.”

The Japanese top diplomat, for his part, expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of Leader of the late Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and sympathized with the Iranian people and government.

Motegi also expressed his concern over the expansion of war in the region, emphasizing that effective measures should be taken to reduce tensions.
