Kothagudem: A government teacher was found hanging at her residence in Kothagudem town, with the incident triggering protests by her family members.
According to police, Kavitha (37) allegedly hanged herself at her house in the B-Power House area of the town on Sunday night. Her husband, Maloth Nageshwar Rao, called an ambulance and shifted her to the Government General Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Kavitha’s family members alleged that Nageshwar Rao had killed her as he was having an extramarital affair with another woman. They lodged a complaint against him at the One-Town police station on Monday. Kavitha’s maternal uncle, Srinivas, told the media that Nageshwar Rao had called them over the phone stating that she had died by suicide. However, by the time they reached the hospital, neither Nageshwar Rao nor his family members were present. He said the family suspected the husband’s role in Kavitha’s death.
Kavitha was working as a teacher at the Zilla Parishad High School in Bhadrachalam. Nageshwar Rao works as a teacher at the Government High School in Burgampad and had earlier received the Best Teacher Award.
Nageshwar Rao reportedly surrendered to the police fearing that Kavitha’s family members might attack him. Meanwhile, the woman’s relatives gathered at the police station demanding severe punishment for him.
