In his message, Aliyev extended congratulations on the new leader’s appointment and reiterated his condolences on the martyrdom of his father, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran are rooted in the will of our peoples, who have always lived in an atmosphere of friendly neighborliness and friendship, Aliyev said.
He expressed hope that the two countries would make joint efforts to develop interstate relations based on mutual respect and trust, in accordance with the interests of both nations.
