Iran, Japan discuss boosting coop. in digital transformation

Iranian Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Mohammad Khansari met and held talks with the Minister of Digital Transformation of Japan on the sidelines of the Internet Governance Forum in Japan.

Iran’s fundamental policy is to strengthen relations based on mutual respect with East Asian countries, including Japan, Khansari said in this meeting.

He referred to the meeting of Iran’s President with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and the emphasis of both sides on the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Over the years, the relations between Iran and Japan have deepened in various economic, commercial, technological, and cultural fields, he said.

Although the relations between the two countries have decreased, especially in the economic and commercial fields due to the cruel sanctions against Iran, he said, adding that the opportunities for cooperation and exchanging experiences in various fields, especially digital transformation, smart government, research, and educational activities are growing.

The Minister of Digital Transformation of Japan also announced readiness to exchange experiences in the field of smart government and e-government.

In the end, he emphasized the development of private-sector cooperation between the parties, especially in the related fields of the development of new businesses, holding workshops, training courses, and technology exchanges.
