Cyberabad police explore AI-driven traffic management system

Hyderabad: In a move aimed at modernising urban traffic regulation, the Cyberabad Police held detailed discussions on adopting an Artificial Intelligence-driven predictive traffic management system.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh on Wednesday led deliberations on integrating smart technologies to address rising congestion, improve signal coordination and strengthen road safety enforcement.

Officials were briefed on an advanced AI model developed by Zurich-based firm Transcality. The company’s CEO, Dr. Lucas Ambul, explained how predictive analytics can study real-time traffic data, anticipate bottlenecks and automatically adjust signal timings to ensure smoother vehicle flow.

The system is also capable of running simulations to assess the impact of road expansions, flyovers and other infrastructure projects before implementation.

Police authorities noted that such technology could support better planning as the Cyberabad region continues to witness rapid growth in residential and commercial activity. The proposed model is expected to enhance decision-making through data-driven insights while reducing manual intervention in traffic regulation.

Senior traffic and administrative officers shared inputs on implementation feasibility.
