MLR Institute of Technology students, Team Meghdooth, won the second prize in Overall Performance – Regular Class at SAE India’s Drone Development Challenge 2025–26. Their innovative drone design and engineering excellence earned them ₹45,000 and national recognition.

Hyderabad: Students of MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT) secured the second prize in Overall Performance – Regular Class at the prestigious SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Drone Development Challenge (DDC) 2025–26.
Team Meghdooth, comprising third-year Mechanical Engineering students, showcased exceptional technical expertise, innovation, and teamwork at the national-level competition organised by SAE India Southern Section in Chennai.
Team Meghdooth demonstrated capabilities in drone design, fabrication, flight performance, efficiency, and overall engineering excellence and their performance earned them the second prize along with a cash award of Rs 45,000.
Founder Secretary, MLRIT and MLA Malkajgiri, Marri Rajashekar Reddy, lauded the students for their outstanding achievement at the national stage. Principal of MLRIT, Dr V Radhika Devi, congratulated the winners for their outstanding achievement at the national level.
The team expressed gratitude to the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Prof M Venkateshwar Reddy, and the Chairman of SAE Hyderabad Division for their valuable encouragement and support. The project was mentored by Dr P Pramod Kumar and Sai Kumar.
