A 1,200 mm diameter Manjeera water pipeline burst in Manikonda, Hyderabad, at 3 am on Tuesday, flooding internal roads with up to four feet of water. The incident disrupted water supply to nearly 10,000 connections in the area.

Hyderabad: A heavy water leakage incident occurred at Manikonda at around 3 am on Tuesday after a 1,200 mm dia Manjeera water pipeline suddenly burst, inundating internal roads and affecting water supply connections in the area, officials said.
Residents were scared after internal roads were completely inundated with three to four feet of water that entered into their premises. The incident affected over 8,000 to 10,000 connections in the Manikonda area.
HMWSSB general manager, Manikonda, D Srinivas Reddy confirmed to Telangana Today about the water leakage. He said, “The incident occurred at 3 am after a 1,200 mm diameter Manjeera water pipeline suddenly burst. The water gushed, resulting in colony roads being inundated. As a result, over 8,000 to 10,000 connections in the Manikonda area were affected.”
Soon after officials received information about the leakage from locals, officials from the affected area rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, all valves supplying water through this water pipeline were shut to prevent further leakage, an official said.
Works at the site to replace the damaged pipeline were underway at a brisk pace. By tonight, the work is expected to be completed and water supply restored, an HMWSSB official said.
Meanwhile, locals posted water leakage videos on social media and urged for help as large volumes of water entered into their premises.
