Mancherial: A man was murdered by his wife allegedly for forcing her into prostitution at Shantinagar in Mandamarri town on Monday night.

Police said Moin (42) was stabbed to death by his wife, Avanthi, for harassing her and pressurising her into prostitution after being addicted to liquor for a long time. He sustained serious neck injuries when Avanthi attacked him with a knife. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Avanthi reportedly surrendered before the police soon after killing her husband and admitted to committing the offence. She had married Moin after falling in love with him a few years ago. The couple has a son and the family was facing a financial crisis.

Moin is learnt to have been operating a prostitution racket in Gadderagadi, Kyathanpalli. He migrated to Mandamarri after a case was booked against him.
