Hyderabad: Elections to the posts of secretary and treasurer of the Hyderabad Cricket Association are most likely to be held in the first or second week of March, according to a senior official of the HCA.
“The electoral officer, VS Sampath, has initiated the proceedings in this regard, and the process of finalising the exact schedule will be completed soon,” the official informed ‘Telangana Today’.
It may be mentioned here that the HCA Apex Council has suspended the incumbent president, A Jagan Mohan Rao, secretary R Devraj and the Treasurer, CJ Srinivas in July 2025, following charges of alleged fraud, cheating and misappropriation of funds.
Consequently, joint secretary Mr.T. Basavaraju has been discharging the duties of the Secretary and giving a fresh fillip especially to the promotion of women’s cricket and incumbent vice-president Mr Daljit Singh taking over a sin-charge president till recently when the Telangana High Court in an order said that Amarnath, who lost the presidential poll by just one vote to Jagan Mohan Rao in October 2023 elections, would take over as the President for the remaining term of the existing Apex Council which will end in October this year.
As and when the election schedule is announced for the posts of Secretary and the Treasurer, 171 clubs with voting rights will take part, as the term of suspension of the 57 other affiliated clubs suspended for three years is most likely to end in July this year.
As things stand, even though the newly-elected secretary and the treasurer will be holding the office for only a few months, it is highly unlikely to be unanimous, as there are quite a few contenders like Anil Kumar of Mahboob College, Mahendra Parachuri of Pragathi Printers, and Agam Rao for the two key posts.
