Hyderabad: Unidentified persons have allegedly hacked and taken control of the official ‘X’ account of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), prompting the central agency to approach the police and lodge a complaint.
As per information available, the security breach came to light when NFDB officials found that they could no longer access the account from February first week. The hackers allegedly changed the account name and began sharing suspicious content, raising concerns over possible misuse.
Acting on a complaint from senior officials, the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police registered a case on Thursday and are investigating.
In the complaint, the agency stated that the verified account is followed by Union Ministers and senior government officials, and any malicious posts could damage the institution’s credibility. The NFDB office is located near the PVNR Expressway.
Officials have also informed X management about the incident and sought urgent assistance to restore the account.
Cybercrime authorities are now working to trace those behind the intrusion.
