Retired employees attach appeals to ballot papers in Suryapet, seek pending benefits

Nalgonda: Like voters in Ward 48, those in Ward 47 of Suryapet municipality attached written appeals along with their ballot papers during the municipal polls.

In the appeals, retired employees urged the Congress government to release their retirement benefits at the earliest.

In one such appeal, a pensioner stated that it had been 15 months since the employees retired from service. However, till date, not a single paisa had been paid to them.

The retired employees said they were facing several challenges, including health and financial issues. Owing to paucity of money, many pensioners were not in a position to afford quality treatment.

“Already, 62 pensioners have passed away and with heavy hearts, we appeal to the Congress government to dispense the retirement benefits and bail out the pensioners from the crisis,” a letter attached to a ballot paper read. An image of the letter is circulating on social media.
