Sangareddy: Voting in Sangareddy and Zaheerabad municipalities, the two largest civic bodies in the erstwhile Medak district among 19 municipalities, was sluggish in the initial hours, recording around 25 per cent polling by 11 am, while the remaining municipalities registered over 30 per cent turnout.
Zaheerabad recorded 25.6 per cent polling, while Sangareddy municipality witnessed 26.49 per cent.
Cheriyal municipality in Siddipet recorded over 40 per cent polling, while Gaddapotharam in Sangareddy district recorded 38.85 per cent. The remaining municipalities reported polling between 30 per cent and 38 per cent.
Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar exercised his franchise in Sadasivapet municipality.
Tension prevailed in several municipalities as rival party workers were involved in scuffles over various issues. However, polling otherwise went on smoothly.
