Hyderabad: Major water leakage near KBR Junction disrupts traffic

Hyderabad: A significant water leakage at the busy KBR Junction on Monday disrupted traffic and led to water supply interruptions in parts of Banjara Hills. The leak, located on the stretch leading towards Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, Road No. 10, Banjara Hills, sent potable water flooding onto the main road during peak evening hours, causing considerable inconvenience to commuters.

Officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) were alerted to the situation and moved quickly to address a faulty valve.

Despite the heavy traffic flow, a Water Board technician worked through Monday evening to arrest the leakage. Observers, however, noted that the repair was being carried out without standard safety equipment.

A senior HMWSSB official confirmed that the repair work necessitated a temporary shutdown, slightly affecting water supply to certain residential pockets in Banjara Hills. The technician on site stated that the work was expected to be completed by 7 pm, restoring normalcy to both the road and the supply line.
