Karimnagar: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s comments on the Congress party and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen reaching an understanding have turned controversial, with the ruling party taking strong exception to them.

Participating in the BJP’s Vijayasankalpa Yatra in Karimnagar town on Sunday night, Sanjay Kumar alleged that an Rs 100 crore deal had been struck between the Congress and the AIMIM to defeat the BJP in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation elections.

Reacting sharply to the remarks, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said it was not proper for a Union minister to make such baseless allegations. He advised the BJP leader to take action if there was any evidence to support the claims. Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including SUDA chairman Komatireddy Narendar Reddy and district libraries chairman Sattu Mallesham, lodged a complaint with Town I police against the Union minister. They alleged that Sanjay Kumar was spreading false information among the public to damage the Congress party’s prospects in the municipal elections.
