Hyderabad: Students of the University College of Engineering, JNTU-Hyderabad, opposed the college management’s decision to collect an additional Rs.1,500 as a special fee from students, who had already paid Rs. 2,500 under the same head at the time of admission.

The Students Protection Forum (SPF) representatives on Saturday submitted a representation to the college principal opposing the fee circular.

SPF representative Darla Sujay said the fee structure applicable at the time of admission should remain unchanged until students complete their courses. He warned that the SPF would launch protests if the college continues to collect additional special fees every year.

The forum demanded that the college revoke the fee circular and stop collecting the additional fee of Rs.1,500 from students who had already paid Rs. 2,500. It also sought refunds for students who had already paid the additional amount.

Student representatives Stalin, Akshit, Naveen, Gnaneshwar, Rohith, Raj Kumar, Sagar, Durgaprasad and Vasanth, among others, met the principal.
